Happy Meat Free Monday!

Hello Humans! And happy Meat-Free Monday! Meat-Free Monday is an event sponsored by the McCartney family, to encourage everyone to go, may I say the dreaded word of all mankind, Vegetarian, for one day a week. Doing this not only decreases your carbon footprint, or the amount of carbon dioxide you put into the atmosphere, but helps some animals live. I myself have never been the biggest fan of eating meat, because a lot of it isn't good. There are times when I would die to have really good meat, such as a Tonyburger, my Uncle Steve's Briquet, or my Dad's grilled chicken. But I have never eaten it that often. And I don't know if you've noticed this, but as a starving college student, meat costs a TON more than vegetables. Meat can also contain harmful toxins from the environment such as Mercury and Lead. I encourage you all to try to have a Meat-Free Monday, once a month. If it's not for your health or an animal's life, then to help slow global climate change. Here's my hero celebrating his Vegetarianism.

About a month ago, I had this experience eating with my family. We were eating chicken wings as a happy Sunday Dinner. These particular chicken wings caught my attention though, because they had lots of blood veins in them. These are perfectly safe to eat, but they looked like parts from a squid I had to dissect in my Biology Lab this last school year. All of the feelings of dread to open up a baby squid just so we could look at its insides, instead of a diagram that would have been more accurate and saved the school money, came rushing back. Ever since then, I've had a hard time eating meat because I see the animal and it's internal organs, tissue, and muscle that I'm eating. I just feel grossed out and sad by the fact that I know I'm eating a once living cow or pig or chicken. So, I've decided to become a Vegetarian. But Mary, you may ask, why not go all the way and go Vegan? Well, I would like to be 100% Vegan, but I like my Nutella, chocolate, and ice cream too much to quit milk and eggs. Stay wild, flower child.
