Like A Rolling Stone
Hello Humans! Today I was super busy moving into my new Hale! A Hale is what they call the on-campus housing. I was fortunate enough to get into an apartment-style Hale, which I love so far. I will eventually have 7 other girls in my apartment, but for now, it's just me and one other super cute girl. Anyways, I had so much fun getting my room all put together and making it my space. It felt good after a month of living out of a suitcase to finally unpack everything. Because I had to move by suitcase, and every centimeter of space counted as money spent, I had to choose very carefully what I packed. Everything has some meaning to me. Below are pictures of my room. I hope you enjoy!
Above is my desk. I have my favorite books, trinkets, and pictures. One of my favorite pieces are my stuffed Hammer-Head Pirate Shark. The story of how I came about this Hammer-Head Pirate Shark is one of my favorite memories of Hawaii. For Thanksgiving last year, my grandparents took our whole family over to Maui. So many amazing memories came from this trip, but this is one that I will forever cherish. Me and my sister were both going through Boy-Trouble and dealing with stupid boys with cooties, and so we took a few minutes and walked around the beautiful beach town of Lahaina. We walked into a toy store, because we are both five at heart, just to look around. I saw this shark and knew I had to have it. But, I had already spent my wad for the trip. So I took a picture and sent it to my mom, and asked her if I could get it for Christmas. Later that night, after dinner, she said I could. So she gave me $20 and me and my sister ran back over to the store and bought it. It reminds me of the great times spent talking to my sister in Maui. Those times helped to strengthen our relationship to be what it is today. I love and miss Annie very much. Love you Slendy! Another awesome trinket is my Bison Mug. While at Sun Valley, at the Arts Festival one year, we were walking around as we did every year. My dad walked into this tent full of mugs, and as we were looking around, he found the Bison Mug. It reminds me of our favorite family joke, and makes me laugh every time I think of it. The last thing I will touch on that is on my desk is from my Senior Trip with my mom to San Diego. We were walking around the city of La Jolla, and we found a really cute shop and wandered in. They had a little sign that said, "All you need is Love, and the Beach." My mom bought it on the spot, and gave it to me. She said it described me perfectly, encompassing both my love for the Beatles and hippiness, and my love for the beach and ocean. That trip was some awesome time spent with my Mom. I always love our time alone, or now daily phone calls when we can just talk about life and the things we love.
Above is my bed. And yes, I already told you, I am a five year old at heart and still sleep with stuffed animals. The triceratops is one made with my sister. That was another great time we spent developing our relationship. The smiling shark was given to me by my mom, last Valentines day. I had just looked at it on Amazon the week before, and totally forgot about it, when I opened it in my Valentines Day gift from my parents. The weird-looking skeleton is Papyrus, from Undertale. I already talked about that in a previous post. The beat with Iron Man on it combines both my love from Iron Man, and a few funny memories with my brother. Lastly, the Yellow Bunny, also known as Peepachu, is the "unofficial official" mascot of one of my favorite daily gaming channels, GT Live. They are super family friendly and hilarious. Plus, Peepachu is really soft. And then, of course, my Scooby-Doo pillow pet. Scooby-Doo pretty much defines my childhood. I also have my VW Mini-Bus pillow, given to me by my Nana. We were walking through different stores at a farmer's market, also in Sun Valley, and I saw this pillow out on the street and knew I had to have it. Sadly, I was moving into my apartment for my college last year and had no money to buy it. My Nana bought it when I wasn't looking, and gave it to me for my birthday. It was such a surprise! And it is honestly one of the most comfy pillows I have ever owned.
On the wall next to my bed, I have a paper with 10 things to remember. This was given to me by my parents. A lot of people have seen my Key necklace, and that is what it corresponds with. It was my graduation present, and I have remembered those 10 things every day since then. I also have my "Free Tonyburger" cards. I had this super awesome friend and manager, who quit shortly after I went to college last year. We were awesome friends and I miss talking to him a lot of the time. Anyways, when I came back for the summer, all of my co-workers would dig through the Free Cards and coupons that we were supposed to throw away at night, and gave me all of the ones signed by that manager. So, I have my Tonyburger crew, friends, and Hommies right by me.
And lastly, my favorite Periodic Table of Elements. And yes, I know that I am missing Cobalt, number 27 (I actually knew that without looking it up. It makes me so happy that I know the Periodic Table of Elements so well!), and I'm pretty sure its somewhere in my luggage, and really need to find it, otherwise there is a hole in the Periodic Table, which means there's a hole in my Heart. Later, I will be doing a post on my favorite elements and why, but for now, I loved making this. While at times it was very tedious to cut our 118 elements and their group names, it was worth it. I got to know the periodic table, notice trends, and even memorize a lot of it while making it.
I am very happy with the way my room turned out! I was able to get every thing where I want it, and still have space left over. I can't wait until school actually starts and I get to start learning about what I love most again! Stay wild, flower child.
