August Notes: GOD IS REAL.
Hello Humans! HOLY COW! August has come and gone in the blink of an eye. But looking back on it, so much has happened. 2 moves into the unknown. I left 2 jobs, and gained 2 more. I made so many friends and learned how to shop in a place where everything is very expensive. I learned how to pass the time and keep my brain stimulated. I learned how to overcome missing my family and doggie, and some of my friends from home. But the thing that I learned most is that God is real, and that he’s a God of Miracles and that he knows us and the things that will be best for us. This has been shown many times through the last month.
First, my roommates. My first two roommates, Jana and Sabrina McQueen are both amazing girls who are super spiritual. They taught me so much, such as starting your day off with a spiritual message and thought, and how to love and welcome someone into your ohana. My new roommates, in my dorm have taught me how to help and lift each other up. They are all so kind and giving, and we all work together to help each other know their way around town, and lend each other dishes as we are still looking for our own. There is no way that the roommates I have now were brought together by coincidence. We all get along so well, and love each other. It’s like I’ve met them all before. I feel like we will all be great friends after college.
Second, my 2 new jobs. I came over a month early to the Island to try to find a job. I applied to many places, and even got an interview, but I didn’t get any of the jobs. But I didn’t feel defeated. Then last night, while looking at other on-campus jobs, I saw “Research Assistant,” for BioChemistry and applied. Knowing that a transfer student’s application would get lost among other, more known names around this small-school, I emailed the head professor of the BioChemistry department. He told me that he just had hired on the last researcher on his team, but needed a Chemistry Tutor and offered me the job. I accepted it, and he said I could also research with another professor, and gave me their projects. I emailed one, and almost immediately after, he asked me to join his team! I got 2 jobs within 24 hours, both in positions that will help boost my resume in the Science World for the future. Again, there is no way I would have been able to get those jobs without the help of my Heavenly Father.
Lastly, the fact that I was able to save up enough money to get here, and that I am here living my dream with enough money is just amazing. The story of how everything came together so simply and smoothly was incredible.
I normally don’t love the month of August, because it means fall is on its way. Which means winter is almost here. Except in Hawaii, there is no Winter. So, while in Hawaii, I welcome August. I can’t wait for school to start in 6 days, and to see what September holds for me. Stay wild, flower child.
