Theory: Mixing Science and Religion
Hello Humans! Today I thought I would keep my promise and tell you my theory on the speed of light. Now, disclaimer, this is not scientific fact or religious doctrine, it's just something my mind connected. We probably won't know why light is the way it is until the next life. When I teach or talk about Science, it's all facts. That's just what Science is. Religion is feelings. Most of the time those two don't mix well (especially with Sociology and Phycology, because there is no way to prove or predict human behavior, unlike all other sciences.), and most Scientists don't love mixing them together. I try to not mix them together, but there are times when things will just click, and each will strengthen and edify the other. So, with that disclaimer of mine, here is my Theory on how God may live at the Speed of Light. Again, this is not Scientific fact or Religious doctrine, but just my own thoughts.
As I said in an earlier post, when you approach the speed of light, time slows down for you. That is a really quick explanation, and I go more in depth about it in an earlier blog post. I’m really proud of that post, and you should all go read it, if you haven’t. I go over all of the properties of light, which make this post much easier to understand and comprehend. I also said that as a Scientist I look at Science objectively, taking facts for facts, but as all scientists do, I have theories that are not scientific, nor can be scientifically proven. As a member of the LDS Church I have learned from the time I was little that God is a heavenly being who is our Father and loves us very much. I was taught that he knew everything, and that time for him was not time for us. As I grew up, in Seminary, I learned that people have estimated that one day for God is 1000 Earth Years for us. I was never able to comprehend this, until my Physics Professor went over a small portion of the quantum realm. Almost as soon as the lecture was over, my Physics professor said that he would take questions, although he may not be able to answer them. One kid asked if he had any theories on how other beings used this. I knew that my professor was LDS, but he said he had his theories but couldn’t disclose them because he can’t relate church to school, because of laws in the United States. Immediately my mind blew up, in a good way, that is. I thought of what I learned in Seminary, and then it all seemed real, like Science could actually prove religion. Because if God was living at the Speed of Light, then he literally could know everything, be everywhere, and be all powerful, and be an eternal being. He would age a ton slower than our bodies do here on Earth, making him seem eternal to us beings living 2.998 x 10^8 m/s slower than he is. This also explains some of the beginnings of the Earth and how they took place. We know that it took 7 “days” to create the Earth, but what if it was really 7000 Earth years to create the Earth? Makes the Dinosaurs, Pangea, and even evolution from Monkeys seem much more realistic in a religious standpoint. That would mean the Earth is now about 14000 Earth years old, which makes the evolution of the Earth easier to comprehend. Now, it’s no millions or billions of years old, but it’s better than only 7000 years old. Sadly, it is very hard to test out how slow time goes when a human is able to travel at the speed of light, because a human could not endure the kind of force put on their body while traveling at that speed. The human would be dead long before they reached the speed of light.
Another small theory on light and religion: Are Heavenly Beings made up of Photons? We also think of Jesus and God as being beings of light. Maybe they are literally made up of photons, or maybe that was just a small detail added to get our Scientific minds thinking. Just a little fruit for your thought. Let me know what you think of this Religious Theory in the comments, and if I should do more of these. Stay wild, flower child.
