Science Denotes That There Is A Higher Power
Hello Humans! What a great year this is going to be. You know it’s going to be a great year when you are so excited that you feel sick for your Organic Chemistry class to start, and then run to the bookstore right after and start reading your textbook for a few hours. But seriously. I actually did that. I know, I’m a Chemistry Nerd. But it’s just been three long months without hardly any new science that my brain could learn and think about. But all of that aside, I think that my excitement for Science is what makes me so invested in it, and what will make me the great Scientist that I soon will be. It’s crazy to think that in 3.5 short months, I will know so much more about the world around me than I previously did. It’s probably not a great thing that I took O-Chem and Calculus at the same time, because I will be spending so much more time in my Chemistry book than I will in my Calculus book. But math comes easy to me, so I should be fine.
Going to a Church-run school is also very interesting. This is because for the first time in my life, I am able to mingle religion with my studies. It is definitely going to be an adjustment, but one that will be really awesome. One quote my O-Chem professor shared with the class today, and some thoughts that my BioStats teacher had said how I feel about Religion and Science, and how they mix together. “For one who feels compelled, as I do, to accept the existence of the Master Architect, it is important to examine his handiwork for the light it throws on him and his program for his children,” Henry Eyring. The closer I look at a molecule, the more amazing things I see in the world. Because how in the world, from a giant explosion, could this world be made? With all of the electron spins, hydrogen bonds in water, and sigma and pi bonds, there is no way that there isn’t some hand in making all of this. The matter of this Earth is so organized, it’s insane. However, there are somethings that are supported by Science, but not by religion. My BioStats professor told us that these are things such as the Dinosaurs, the age of the Earth, and parts of Evolution. We probably won’t know how these things fit in, or if they were just human speculation, until the day we meet the Master Architect again. Until then, we discover things line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, and there a little, until that great and glorious day. Stay wild, flower child.
