So Boy, How Animal Are You?
Hello Humans! Once again, I am writing about my favorite modern-band: The Slydigs. They recently went on tour in Europe, and have been posting all about it over social media. I commented on one of their photos saying that they should come back to America, and that I am a huge fan. When I commented, I was doing it like I do on Paul McCartney and the Who's social media accounts, where I put what I really think out there, but don't expect a reply at all. The next morning, I had a notification that I had gotten a reply! Like talk about connecting with fans! They said that they were trying to get back over to America, because they loved it so much during the Who Hits 50! Tour. They also said thanks for the support and that they really appreciated it. Wow. What a great band. They just spiked up my list of bands to one of my top 5 favorites.
Back to the title, it's some lyrics from "How Animal Are You?" from the Slydigs newest album, "How Animal Are You?" I love this album to death. It's all amazing: the incredible guitar, the roaring vocals, the constant drum beat, and the steady bass. It all comes together into six perfect songs. My favorite, is "To Catch a Fading Light," but I already made a post about that, so time for the title song, "How Animal Are You?"
"Gasoline, jeans, yeah she knows what I mean. She blows cigarette smoke through my tambourine. Always seeks boys who are dirty or mean, but never found love and is quite so keen.. But I keep a-looking, I keep a-looking, looking for the soul behind those eyes. I keep a-looking, I keep a-looking, a suspicious little thing is all I find. So boy, how animal, how animal are you? And boy, how animal, how animal are you? Propane, change, spent a year on the game, yeah. She got married and changed her name. Now she lives alone, says she's all the same. But he can never keep up, and that's the shame. And I keep a-looking, I keep a-looking, looking for the soul behind those eyes. I keep a-looking, I keep a-looking. Suspicious little thing is all I find. So boy, how animal, how animal are you? And boy, how animal, how animal are you? If what you seek is who you are, then baby you're sure to find a superstar. Spending your time in a jaguar. You're a hundred-miles-an-hour avatar. So boy, how animal, how animal are you? And boy, how animal, how animal are you?"
I love the line, "If what you seek is who you are, then baby you're sure to find a superstar." It's kind of what I've been taught all of my years in church. If you want a totally awesome, faithful, respectful, funny, nerdy husband, then you must be the same. Because not only does he have to be what you're looking for, and what you want, but you have to be what he is looking for, and what he wants. So, moral of the story, be who you want. If you want a jerk, be a jerk, if you want someone kind, be kind. Me, I'm really weird. But I'm perfectly fine with that, because I have fun and love myself when I'm at my weirdest. And I want to have fun with another weirdo one day, for the rest of eternity. Your vibe attracts your tribe. Stay wild, flower child.
