Coming Up

Hello Humans! Today has been one wild ride. Yesterday I got the prompting to email an old friend. He’s currently on his mission in Peru. And he was really happy to hear from me, as I got his return email today. I’m actually the first out of our old friend group to email him. I’m happy he’s doing well in Peru and effecting the people there in such a positive way. So that was amazing to hear back from him.

The other thing, is that I, or rather my parents, but then they called me, got my acceptance letter of transfer to the University of Utah! I am super excited to be able to attend a school that is not only close to home, but also one that cares about the sciences. I feel like everything in my life is finally coming together. I got to experience living away from home and had many other firsts at SUU, where I first fell in love with Physics and Chemistry. Then, I got to take my “fun” year here at BYUH, and use it to find my true self and learn how to express it. I’ve also been able to learn how to balance school and work, and also a social life and sleep. It’s been a good place to learn how to be more independent from parents as well. And now, it’s almost time to buckle down and really focus on my future. My future as a Physical Chemist, my future as a person of influence, and a future as me. I can’t wait to see what adventure I get to experience and enjoy at the U. It’s crazy that you can just listen to and feel the wavelengths of the Universe, and they will lead you to the best possible outcome.

I used to listen to the song, “Coming Up,” by Sir Paul McCartney. I didn’t really believe the lyrics at the time, but it had a catchy tune so I sang it a lot. Now, I do believe in them. So, here it is.

“You want a love to last forever. One that will never fade away. I want to help you with your problem, stick around, I say. It’s coming up. It’s coming up. It’s coming up, like a flower. Coming up, I say. You want a friend you can rely on, one who will never fade away. And if you’re searching for an answer, stick around, I say. It’s coming up. It’s coming up. It’s coming up, like a flower. Coming up, yeah. You want some peace and understanding, so everybody can be free. Know that we can if we get together. We can make it if we meet. It’s coming up. It’s coming up. It’s coming up, like a flower. It’s coming up, for you and me. You want a better kind of future, one that everyone can share. I know if we can get together, we can use it everywhere. It’s coming up, yeah like a flower. It’s coming up, everybody wants to say. It’s coming up, like a flower. It’s coming up anyway.”

So, coming up is a life full of adventure and wonder for me. Whether that’s at the bottom of the ocean scuba diving, examining the refraction of the sunlight and their wave functions, or on top of a mountain, watching the sunset as the photons hit my eyes, or in the lab studying sub-atomic particles and their movements, my future is going to be groovy. Stay wild, flower child.
